Wait
How long, O LORD? — Psalm 13:1a
Wait
That’s the four letter word I never want to hear You say
I can deal with read and tell and pray
But never wait
You know all things
So You know that is the one I hate
Wait
Seriously, though
There is so much to do
How can we do it while waiting on You
Wait
There is so much death and destruction
With every breath we long to hear Your instruction
These times have captured the world’s attention
Sinner and Saint
And You say
Wait
Surely, You mean after
Yeah after
After I lead my bible study through Zoom
After I cook my neighbor a bunch of food
After I send my friends an encouraging tune
After that
Right
Wait
But for how long
There are people gathering
In need of a song
In these times we cannot be silent
Creation is unraveling with incredible violence
Do You know what is going on down here
Do we still have Your ear
Wait
How bout this
I’ll just keep pressing on
Then You tell me where I went wrong
I can’t sit and do nothing
Give me one to do
And I’ll stop asking
Wait
But
Wait
When
Wait
Why
Wait
For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.
